LEGOLAND California - (4 miles) A 128-acre park that contains 5,000 LEGO models made from more than 30 million LEGO bricks. It also features more than 40 interactive exhibits, attractions, family rides and shows. Although LEGOLAND's broadest appeal is to kids 12 and under, anyone with a young spirit will enjoy this San Diego theme park.

The Crossings at Carlsbad - (2.5 miles) This new golf course is located about a mile from the Pacific Ocean and just five minutes from Homewood Suites. Carlsbad Beaches - (4.5 miles) Carlsbad's beaches remain one of San Diego's best kept secrets. The North half of the Carlsbad coast is comprised of a series of small beaches divided by sea walls. The cliffs here are relatively low and in most places the Coast Highway passes right next to the shore, offering an unobstructed view of the sea and open access to the beach.

Oceanside Beach - (8.5 miles) Oceanside Beach is known for its healthy supply of sand and small crowds. This makes a wonderful stop for lunch, a jog, and plenty of room to spread your towel. Buccaneer Beach on the South end is perfect to get away from it all.

Carlsbad Flower Fields - (3 miles) For more than 60 years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world in 50 acres of sheer delight. Group tours are available. Season: Spring (Early March through early May).

Army and Navy Academy - (9 miles) The Army and Navy Academy is a private not-for-profit institution that provides an academically robust, character-based education for 7th- through 12th-grade young men. Small classrooms, personal attention and discipline to one's studies motivate each cadet to reach his full potential. The Academy promotes discipline and leadership through character development lessons. This is provided through our Leadership Education Training (LET) classes which includes the US Army's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program. Founded by Thomas A. Davis on November 23, 1910, the Academy opened its Pacific Beach campus with only thirteen students. Currently the Academy has some 300 cadets come from 14 states and 13 foreign countries. Camp Pendleton - (13 miles) Camp Pendleton covers over 125,000 acres and approximately 200 square miles of terrain. The stretch of shoreline along the base, 17½ miles, is the largest undeveloped portion of coastal area left in Southern California. Camp Pendleton provides training facilities for many active-duty and reserve Marines, Army and Navy units, as well as national, state and local agencies. San Diego Wild Animal Park - (18 miles) With over 2,000 acres of park areas to explore, the San Diego Wild Animal Park offers a more natural setting to view the animals, birds and fish than the conventional cages of a zoo. Take the 45-minute train ride and see giraffes and rhinos or stop at the petting zoo to allow the kids to pet and feed gentle deer and goats. Here you'll find all your favorites including the hands-on Children's Zoo, the Polar Bear Plunge, Tiger River and the creepy Reptile Mesa. Old Town San Diego - (31 miles) Step into San Diego of centuries past as you stroll through Old Town. Don't miss: San Diego House (originally a saloon owned and operated by a freed slave and a cornerstone of San Diego's Black American history), the Mason Street School (San Diego's first public school, still holding history classes for the public) and, of course, Bazaar Del Mundo. Gaslamp Quarter - (35 miles) Over the last few years, the Gaslamp Quarter has become San Diego's entertainment capital. There is always something to do in this trendy part of town where new nightclubs, restaurants and cafés seem to pop up weekly. The Gaslamp Quarter is 21 blocks of sidewalk cafés and open-air restaurants, jazz clubs, late night dancing, resident artists and micro breweries.
